On Thursday, April 10, 2008, NYC ACM SIGGRAPH presents their Sixth Annual “Industry Spotlight”. This event features animation and post-production facilities from the NYC-metropolitan area. Their presenters will tell a bit about their company, show some of their recent work, and discuss future projects.
Presenters Include:Charlex, Curious Pictures, Eyeball, Framestore NY, Nathan Love, Psyop, The Mill, and UVPHACTORY.
The event will be held from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at FIT’s John E. Reeves Great Hall. Enter FIT through Building “D”, located on the northwest corner of 27th Street and 7th Avenue.
Admission for this event is free for NYC ACM SIGGRAPH Members, and FIT Faculty, Students and Staff. It is $7.00 for all Non-Member professionals and $3.00 for all Non-Member Students with a current valid Student ID.

If you’re new to sound editing and have heard of programs like ProTools or Logic, and don’t have the cash to plunk down to get started, fear not; Audacity is 100% totally free software to mix sound for your project. You can find it at audacity.sourceforge.net. The documentation is a bit tough to locate on their site, you can find the manual at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/manual-1.2/index.html. WNET/Thirteen is excited to announce Reel 13 Shorts, an interactive on-line film competition that celebrates the best in independent short films. Short films can now be submitted to www.thirteen.org/reel13 for consideration to be viewed on-line. The public will then rate their favorite films on-line. The winning film will receive an award of $500 and be broadcast on REEL 13, Thirteen’s new weekly Saturday night programming block of classic and independent cinema.
Thinking of putting your reel or latest short on YouTube.com? Trouble is, the quality is pretty poor. While other sites like Revver.com and Veoh.com offer much sharper resolution, YouTube.com pretty lame. But if you want to get noticed, it helps to be on YouTube.
